KIRO Radio's Ron Upshaw considers cutting his cable service and trying to use other services to watch TV.

Netflix, Hulu Plus and Apple TV, oh my!

What is one to do when trying to get around cable? KIRO Radio’s Ron Upshaw is attempting to do just that and discussed it Monday afternoon.

Ron’s plan: Use an HD antenna for local channels and also get fiber optic Internet that he will use to stream online viewing through an Apple TV device. Between the two, he should be able to get sports viewing and access to his favorite TV shows.

But then there is the choice between subscribing to Netflix, Hulu Plus and more.

Co-host Don O’Neill notes that the Millennial generation is ahead of Ron on this, because they have been trending toward not using cable, and rather, other sources of viewing TV and movies.
