What used to be a place for a Seattle peep show will become a place to rest your head.
The building that housed the Lusty Lady at 1315 1st Avenue will be renovated into a 43-room hotel, restaurant, speakeasy bar, rooftop bar and event space.
The hotel, Seven Seas, will include a complete structural retrofit, according to developer Revolve. The 125-year-old building’s renovations will focus on retaining the historic “turn-of-the-century character.”
The Lusty Lady closed in 2010. Even people just passing by couldn’t help but notice the creative and crude marquee messages. The popular adult entertainment venue was open for about 25 years.
Seven Seas is scheduled to open in 2017.
But will people be willing to sleep in a building that housed a former strip club? KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson probably won’t.
“I don’t care how much renovating you do,” Dori said. “I don’t think I would want to curl up for the night in what used to be the Lusty Lady. There isn’t enough cleaner and Purell and everything in the world…”
