Parent of threatened student still looking for action from school

It’s been two weeks since Rebekah Geiger’s 7-year-old daughter, Patience, was threatened by a classmate’s parent, and Geiger told KIRO Radio’s Jason Rantz that enough hasn’t been done for Patience to return her Seattle elementary school.

“I just want my daughter comfortable going to school,” Geiger said.

Patience was having breakfast at Broadview Thomson Elementary on April 6 when the mother of another student, who was eating with the kids, showed the girl a knife and said she was going to cut her tongue off.

According to Geiger, the parent admitted to school officials that the incident happened, but maintained she was only kidding around. Geiger doesn’t buy that it was a harmless joke, nor is she happy the parent was only given a warning and is still allowed on school property.

The threat continues to have an effect on Patience, who Geiger said is now suffering from nightmares and hasn’t been to school since the incident.

Not satisfied with how the situation has been handled, Geiger organized a protest that she said drew 30 to 35 people Monday.

“I would like the school or somebody from the district to reach out to me.”
