According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, the Seahawks may need to change the type of players they draft to avoid off the field or drug related issues. But Colin argues that the Seahawks don't regret drafting Brandon Browner, Bruce Irvin or even Richard Sherman so, do they really need to change anything? Tom doesn't believe the type of players they are drafting is the reason for drug violations.

Colin and Tom aren't too worried about Bruce Irvin missing four games, but they are really nervous about today's news that newly acquired pass rusher Cliff Avril had to sit out today with plantar fasciitis. <itunes:summary><![CDATA[The Mariners may have been swept in Cleveland, but is the team still going in a positive direction? Tom says the losses this weekend can be pinned on a bad Felix start, a shaky Iwakuma start, awful relief pitching and some poor defense. The long struggling offense came to life and it lack of run support wasn't the soul reason for losing (but Colin points out their RISP average could still be improved). Also, how do we rate GM Jack Zduriencik's evaluation of hitting prospects? It appears only one hitter has panned out at this point (or the others are taking way too long to develop). Does he have a "type" when it comes to drafting hitters?

Colin looks at the Indians roster and sees many similarities between what they are doing and what the Mariners are trying to accomplish. They don't have any real breakout all-stars, but a bunch of solid everyday young players supplemented in the right areas with veteran free agents. Plus a caller rips Tom.

The veteran players the Mariners brought in are probably not a long term option for the team moving forward, but is there something that can be taken from having that veteran presence on the team? After a disaster of a series like this in Cleveland, can the veterans keep it cool in the clubhouse and turn things around in Anaheim?]]></itunes:summary>

He adds that watching the receivers and DBs are a good indicator to see how in shape everyone is and get a good idea of what you'll see entering the season. He says the front seven will be interesting to watch because they are thin right now. Brock disagrees with Peter King's assessment that the Seahawks need to draft "Eagle Scouts" to show they are serious about drafting good character guys.

The guys talk about how the veteran players on the Seahawks (much like the vets on the Mariners) can help the younger guys and step up and tell the players what they need to do to stay out of trouble and how the players who have been busted once can help players steer clear of that path.

Is there more personality to Russell Wilson than what we see? It seems like he is a person that is almost too perfect, but his teammates view him differently than the media does. Tom and Colin aren't too worried about the Bruce Irvin suspension because of the Seahawks acquisitions of Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. They would be more concerned if Avril was out because of how Irvin played against Atlanta in the playoffs. Tom thinks this would've hurt much more if he was lost toward the end of the season rather than the beginning. Colin says the balance of the team lessens the blow as well.

Colin has a theory that the linebackers will be more effected by the Irvin suspension rather than the defensive line. He has some 'splainin to do. Tom can agree with that in "an immediate sense". How good are the top 2 starters Felix and Iwakuma? With Kuma going tomorrow and "Safeco Joe" Saunders on Sunday, the M's are in a good position.

Based off the hypothetical above, Tom and Matt would pinch hit for Smoak while Colin would let him hit as it's more important for his development. Callers weigh in.

More calls on what leash you would give Smoak in a "game on the line" situation. It seems like callers would rather see what Smoak can do, as one caller says "the Mariners are not a playoff contender, so one win in May isn't that important".]]></itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary><![CDATA[The guys talk Seahawks this hour. Are the Seahawks the most balanced team in the NFL? They don't have any gaping holes on offense or defense. Plus the additions to both sides of the ball should make it a very solid team.

Seattle says goodbye to a longtime Seahawk as Marcus Trufant is now a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Washington State product played 11 years in a Seattle uniform, but how will he be remembered. Ring of Honor member, Matt says yes, but Colin and Tom aren't so sure about that.

Tom gets the definition of "punch and Judy". Plus, is National League baseball more interesting because of the strategy involved? Or is it time to make the leagues uniform and implement the DH in the NL (since the player's union will never eliminate it).]]></itunes:summary>

Does at least one of the trio of underperforming guys need to improve for him to keep his job?
Two major flaws in the current Mariners roster are at shortstop and catcher. What move(s) can be made to attempt to fix the problems? Matt thinks Montero needs to go to Double-A and DH everyday (because there really is no defensive position for him). Brendan Ryan at SS just needs to be traded somehow and Robert Andino needs to go back to backup infielder.
OK, who takes their place at the big league level? Well, Shannon Drayer thinks the team could bring up catcher Jesus Sucre from Tacoma and keep Mike Zunino developing in AAA. He can hit a little bit and is pretty good defensively. They didn't get around to talking SS, but Shannon did say earlier today that Carlos Triunfel is closer than Nick Franklin who hasn't played SS too much this season.]]></itunes:summary>
